The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are celebrating their second wedding anniversary, and from the very beginning of the relationship until today, they have been embellishing the covers of all the world’s tabloids. There are a couple of reasons why this is so. A lot has changed since Meghan and Harry said “I do” to each other on May 19 at Windsor Castle in front of their families, but also the whole world.

They are officially in a relationship
Harry revealed in November 2016 that American actress Meghan Markle was his girlfriend. Not everyone was happy with his choice, and many compared him to King Edward, who had abdicated almost a hundred years earlier because of the same situation. However, a year later, the Queen’s younger grandson announced that he would stand in front of the altar with the girl. The royal family was never more followed.
A wedding without the whole family
Things became clear after a few months. Meghan is at war with her father, who wasn’t even at the wedding, and the more details came out in the media, the more uncomfortable it was to watch and listen. The couple got married on May 19, 2018, and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is the only member of her family to attend the big event.
The rest of the American side was mostly carefully selected actors and people from the world of showbiz. Problems for Meghan and Harry were just emerging.
The Queen’s sweetheart
Unlike the other brides of the royal family, it seemed as if Queen Elizabeth quickly embraced Meghan. The couple never explained where the name for the boy came from, nor why they don’t have the title. The surname Mountbatten was added to him in honor of Harry’s grandfather, Prince Philip.
Shock and disbelief – they leave the royal family
Meghan and Harry announced earlier this year that they were stepping down from all royal duties. The media eagerly accepted the event under the name Megxit, and all the details took place under the watchful eye of the public.
