Heidi Klum’s Changing Looks

At the time of writing this article, Heidi Klum’s career has spanned almost 30 years, and the model has displayed different looks of beauty throughout that time. In 2024, Klum launched her new Amazon show, Making the Cut, returned to America Got Talent, and continues to demonstrate that she is a stylish chameleon who is not afraid to take risks with her hair, makeup, or clothing.

In an interview with You, Klum described her personal style as “eclectic” and revealed: “I can be many different people. That is why fashion is so powerful and what I love. If I have a meeting, I am a business. I want people to respect me. As Klum’s modeling career continued to grow, she began to demonstrate that she was not afraid to wear unusual and striking makeup or change her hair. On October 20, 2000, Klum headed to the VH1 / Vogue Fashion Awards, where she debuted with subtly highlighted curls and a vibrant green liner to match her dazzling gown. While it’s rare to see Klum wearing such bright eye makeup, it seems like Victoria’s Secret model has always been willing to try the latest trends, if only for one night.

Upon arriving in London for the BRIT Awards on February 20, 2002, Heidi Klum decided to leave her signature honey blonde locks behind in favor of a bright tan shade. With her darkest hairstyle and fullest bangs, Klum was almost unrecognizable at the annual music industry event. ELLE reported that 2002 marked Klum’s first appearance at the prestigious show, in which she wore an elegant lace dress with a pair of white high-heeled boots.

2004 was the year Heidi Klum started dating Seal, so it makes sense for the model to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for the 2004 World Music Awards in September of that year. For the occasion, Klum wore her hair tied back in a loose hairstyle and featured a smoky eye with a sleek black liner.

Klum met Seal in early 2004. When asked where they met, she said Red Book, “In New York, at the Mercer Hotel. I was in the hall and he entered. My friend introduced us and I told Seal to sit down. According to MY! News, when Klum started dating Seal, she was pregnant with her first child, her daughter Leni, with her ex-boyfriend Flavio Briatore. Klum gave birth in May 2004 and married Seal a year later, in May 2005.

Victoria’s Secret helped make Heidi Klum a household name, so it’s not surprising that the model had such a close working relationship with the brand. On July 31, 2006, she attended the launch of Victoria’s Secret’s Very Sexy Makeup in Los Angeles, California, where she did a glamorous version of boho chic. With her hair combed into loose, effortless waves and a healthy glow to her skin, the model proved she is always ready to embrace summer style.

Heidi Klum underwent a style overhaul in 2008 as she transitioned to a brighter, blonde balloon. With long bangs and lightly feathered hair, the model looked happy and youthful during an appearance on January 23, 2008 in Munich, Germany, to promote Bella Fontanis. The same year, said Klum Red Book, “I love it when I go out and do my hair and makeup, but I also like it when I’m with family because it’s real. Seal says that’s when I’m pregnant. I always felt beautiful when I was pregnant, but I feel more when I am my normal size.”

After dabbling in some shorter hairstyles, Heidi Klum returned to the red carpet with a much longer look on January 17, 2010. Attending the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California Klum looked at every inch. Hollywood star. Rocking much darker roots, the model tested the ombre for the first time, relaxing in her honey blonde tones as she swayed the beach waves. Setting dramatic eyelashes aside, Klum kept her makeup simple and let her natural beauty speak.

Attending the 40th American Music Awards held in Los Angeles on November 18, 2012 (above), Klum kept her glamor simple, with a tight bun and subtle golden highlights woven into her natural brown hair. With a soft pink lip and subtle eye makeup, Klum showed off her natural beauty.

In early 2012, it was revealed that Klum had separated from husband Seal. In the April 2012 issue of ELLE, Klum revealed, “I feel like I’m in the eye of the tornado. It is the emotions inside your body that are a tornado. And then the outside world is doing all this madness – wanting it or not wanting it – it’s another tornado. But as difficult as it is, that’s the way life is.” Maybe the dimmed look was a reflection of trying to keep something calm in her life?

Heidi Klum attended the 2nd Annual Up2Us Gala on May 14, 2014, in New York City (above). According to the organization’s website, Up2Us’ mission is to “engage, train and support sports coaches to transform youth, programs and communities.” On the red carpet, Klum showed an asymmetrical hairstyle, with two braided sections. She accessorized her outfit with a great pair of hoops and focused everything on her smoky makeup and highlighter. It certainly was a great transformation from her newest Halloween costume!

As a model, Heidi Klum regularly meets at New York Fashion Week, especially as Project Catwalk, the show that she hosted for many years, regularly filmed her finale at the iconic event. In the photo above on September 11, 2015, in New York City, Klum showed off her shiny tan, golden streaks, sparkly eyeshadow, and a well-known pink lip. As usual, Klum seemed like she was ready to take the track herself, instead of just attending the show.

As usual, the Making the Star cut looked flawless as it debuted its modern take on the shiny hairstyle. With natural-looking makeup and a return to her favorite golden and blonde locks, Klum was perfectly suited to the Californian environment.

Speaking of her seemingly always perfect hair, Klum told HuffPost, “Everyone has a bad day. If it’s really bad, I usually pull my hair in a bun or I wear a hat. But sometimes, I just don’t care because the days of having your perfect hair are over. Sometimes when I get up in the morning I don’t even brush my hair. My trick is to wash my hair at night and fall asleep with wet hair. Then I roll over on the pillow and wake up and my hair looks perfectly messy. It’s that easy, huh?

Heidi Klum kicked off 2024 with the release of America Got Talent Season 15 in California. For her return to the series, Klum became much more blonde. Klum reflected on the faux pas style during an interview with the USA. Today in February 2024, saying, “I’ve been on the worst-dressed list many times … It’s important to be honest with who you are. I always loved fashion, I never took the conservative route”. She continued: “If you look at all my years of being on the red carpet, it was always me … And now that is fashionable, and that is accepted.”
