There is a time when a student feels exhausted. And this is perfectly normal, but there are ways to reduce stress. We will tell you how to make learning easier with the help of various services, life hacks. For example, you can not sit and check for mistakes in the essay all night, write in editius.com and have the answer!
The perfect place
Find your perfect place to focus on learning. It’s best if it’s quiet and light, and there shouldn’t be any distractions: a computer (if you don’t need it for training), a mobile phone (especially a smartphone), a TV… A tidy desk gives a lot of comfort and a very comfortable chair.
Preparation of materials
Gather all the necessary materials, pens, pencils, markers before you sit down to study. That when a brilliant idea comes to mind, there is something to write down. And do not be distracted by their search while being focused.
Grab a snack. Energy drinks or coffee do not work – they do not last long and are addictive. Nuts, fruits, dried fruits work – these are simple and effective sources of carbohydrates – and necessarily water that saturates the brain with oxygen and starts its work.
Take short breaks. I take such 10-minute breaks every hour. At this time, do something completely different from studying, relax, exercise, water the flowers, call a friend, but do not read or use a computer during breaks. Use a clock or alarm clock and make a clear decision for yourself: these 50 minutes I study, and these 10 – rest.
With or without equipment?
Use a computer and other equipment to a minimum.
This is perhaps one of the biggest threats to focused learning. The rules are as follows:
- If you do not need a computer to study – turn off the computer.
- If you need a computer but not the Internet, turn off the Internet.
- If you still need the Internet – open a clean browser (for training only), close all unnecessary programs and tabs, turn off notifications.
- And do not try to google everything you need for learning – look in textbooks (there the information is checked), write works yourself (develop creativity!)
Study with someone. It’s very effective and fun, but choose a partner to study carefully: he or she should be no less ambitious than you, and not distract you from learning (so the best friend, boyfriend or girlfriend is not the best).
Make a to-do list. Make a list of things you need to do to calculate time correctly and focus on one thing at a time. And then it’s so nice to cross out the work done!
Motivate yourself! Think about what outcome awaits you if you can focus on learning? You will know something useful, write a good test or even an external examination, which will give you the opportunity to get into a mediocre university. Take an interest in the topic you are studying, at least make yourself feel that you love the topic you are working on.
Invent rewards. Treat yourself like a small child, whose productivity increases significantly when she is praised and rewarded. Promise yourself a bar of chocolate, a trip to the movies or a day without training for success.
Do not procrastinate until the end. The sooner you need to do something, the more you will be nervous and lack time. It is always very difficult to do so, but I have an idea of how easy it is to do things in parts, and difficult – at once.
And this is probably the most pleasant advice: too much training is harmful to your health and attention. If you study non-stop today, it will be difficult for you to focus on learning for at least a few minutes tomorrow. Know your limits and do not try to overcome fatigue.
How do we learn with help of neurons, and why should new neural connections be established?
There are more than 100 billion neurons in the brain. The neuron looks a bit like an octopus or a strange alien with long tentacles. These tentacles are called dendrites. There are many thorns on each dendrites. The life mission of each neuron is to reach for the other with its tentacles and scratch his fingers. Neurons also send signals. When you learn something new, you create connections between neurons. Learned a new word, took a new chord, learned a new pa? Provide new neural connections and long-term memory. The more you practice something new, the stronger the connections between neurons.
Sleep is an important part of learning
New knowledge is not enough – apply it in practice so that your “neural embrace” becomes stronger and you can use the acquired knowledge for a long time. And for a few seconds we return to the topic of metaphors. They are crucial because they serve as a bridge between old and new material and help to build strong neural connections quickly. For example, my students have come up with a new concept. And over the next three weeks, they learn something completely different, without returning to the concept. Then I ask them to look at the information before the test. Students say the concept has become unclear. Why did this happen? As they engaged in the other, a janitor walked through their neural connections and removed the spikes that the neurons clung to each other. So – we practice everything in practice! Fasten. As an option – read the necessary newly learned material several times before bedtime. The spines of the dendrites are firmly entangled with each other. After sleep, these spikes will be more on the legs of neurons. Sleep is an important part of learning. Learning – sleep – learning. The more such intervals, the better you remember.
The child’s motivation directly depends on his parents’ positive attitude to school, their personal experiences and scenarios influence their phrases about the school, the teacher’s assessment and activities, the ability to criticize and devalue school events. Therefore, parents should be extremely attentive to their own statements about the school, teachers and school subjects. Familiarity and lack of subordination to the teacher does not contribute to the formation of a respectful attitude towards school. Phrases that devalue school subjects, that learning is a waste of time, will not lead to the fact that the child against this background will suddenly begin to learn and will love school with all his heart.
