The Duggar family rose to stardom in the successful TLC programs 19 Children and Counting and Counting On. The large and conservative Christian family used the platform to display their values; They don’t dance, go to the beach, or celebrate Halloween. They don’t hold hands even when they go out (they prefer the infamous “side hug”), and Duggar women are not supposed to wear pants.
Duggars adhere to biblical values when it comes to family. Looking at the selected scriptures (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8) could mean attributing the belief that “love is patient, love is kind. He does not envy, he does not boast, he is not proud. He does not dishonor others, he is not selfish, he does not get angry easily, he does not keep any record of errors. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. ” But all families argue, and the Duggars are no exception. You just won’t find his family fights on cable TV. “We always say in our family that we praise publicly, but we correct privately,” wrote matriarch Michelle Duggar in a 2015 blog post that dispensed marriage advice.
Even in the wake of a great tabloid story that rocked the family world, the Duggars managed to prevent their fighting from turning into television fodder. But make no mistake, the Duggar drama exists, and the famous TLC family is actually something of a scandal magnet. We’re illuminating all of this, as we try to figure out which members of the Duggars just don’t get along.
Derick Dillard poured tea on Jim Bob Duggar
TLC officially cut ties with Jill (Duggar) Dillard’s husband, Derick Dillard, in 2017 after tweeted transphobic comments about the personality of the Jazz Jennings network. But years later, Derick revealed his departure from Counting Was More Layered Than It Seems.
In December 2019 Twitter thread , Derick hinted that patriarch Jim Bob Duggar “negotiated” the terms of contact on behalf of the entire Duggar family “without telling anyone.” He also alleged that he and Jill were not financially compensated when they allowed the network to register the birth of their son, so he asked for compensation “for medical expenses” because “TLC sure did us more than that.”
Later that month, Derick crafted the compensation claims in a question-and-answer session with fans on Instagram. “For a long time, Jill and I had the impression that the family was not making money from the program,” she wrote in a comment captured by En Contacto , adding: “Rather, it was presented to us … as a ministry that TLC periodically subsidized. in the form of reimbursements for things like gas, restaurants, travel… But there is no real payment on top of that ». He also hinted that Jim Bob pulled all the strings behind the scenes and said that he and Jill only participated due to threats from “a family / TLC lawsuit.”
Back on the Twitter thread, Derick went so far as to say that the show brought the family “to the edge of sanity and could have easily destroyed [their] lives. »
Derick Dillard’s Duggar dispute has been brewing for a while
Duggar fans will remember that 19 kids and counting ended in 2015 after allegations of sexual abuse against Josh Duggar came up. The show then morphed into Jill and Jessa: Expecting , following the older daughters in the early years of their marriages and pregnancies, before simply being called Expecting .
Derick Dillard alleged in a 2019 Instagram post that the Dillard family felt compelled to film, despite the fact that Jill (Duggar) Dillard, who was one of Josh’s victims, wanted to resign after the Josh scandal broke out. “They pressured us to think that we should [film] and that they would sue us if we didn’t,” Derick wrote in an Instagram comment captured by The Sun. “It won’t look good for TLC when it is exposed that they pressured an abuse victim to continue filming when we tried to quit smoking.”
In another comment on the same publication (via En contacto ), Derick hinted that his family’s participation in the program ceased to be voluntary because “volunteering means that you can leave without serious risks, such as legal / financial threats, in addition to extreme emotional pressure from inside and outside his family … »
Derick also said in a March 2024 interview with the No Crystal Ball YouTube channel that while “there [have] definitely been some ups and downs in recent years,” he and Jill “have been seeing a licensed counselor who It has helped a lot. ”
Jim Bob Duggar rejected your grandson on his birthday?
Jill (Duggar) Dillard and Derick Dillard celebrated their son Israel’s fifth birthday in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic in April 2024. The family shared details of Israel Day with fans on their blog: “We made a special birthday breakfast And we’re planning a trip this afternoon to say hello to the friends in our car before we head over to Derick’s mom and stepfather for a simple celebration in their front yard (keeping our distance)! »Said the post.
The Duggar family also sent birthday wishes to Israel through Instagram. “It’s hard to believe that you are already 5 years old! You are such a sweet boy with a tender heart and a curious mind! »The publication read in part. “We can’t wait to give you big hugs when it’s safe again! »
The attached image (above) shows Israel posing from inside her home with her grandmother, Michelle Duggar, and a couple of her aunts, who leaned out of a window.
Both publications lack any mention of Israel’s grandfather, Jim Bob Duggar. Could this be a side effect of his apparent enmity with his son-in-law Derick? If so, who would reject a five year old? Leaving possible disputes aside, wouldn’t you want to be as close to your grandson as possible on his birthday?
Is Jill Dillard also fighting Jim Bob Duggar?
Derick Dillard continued his bombing on Jim Bob Duggar’s social media when he accused the patriarch of excluding his own daughter from the family. Jill (Duggar) Dillard has apparently been loyal to her husband during his dirty laundry campaign, so Jim Bob has allegedly done the hardest thing for her to see other members of her family.
“We are not allowed to enter the house when JB is not there,” Derick said in an Instagram comment (via Contact ), adding: “Jill even had to ask JB for permission to go to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted her help, but Jill couldn’t provide the help until we cleared it up with JB. ” he continued. Oh!
The Dillards and most Duggars live close to each other in Arkansas, so getting together should be easy, at least logistically speaking. But the Dillards were noticeably absent from a “Family Night” group photo that Jill’s sister Joy-Anna (Duggar) Forsyth posted to Instagram in August 2019. “It’s hard to get everyone together now that we’re getting older and have our own schedules, “Joy-Anna captioned the photo, adding:” We weren’t all able to do it tonight … “Okay, the Dillards may have been busy, but there has been much speculation about their absence. This family reunion, and others, is an indicator of a great rift.
Josh Duggar’s brother-in-law said what?
Anna Duggar (neé Keller) stood by her husband Josh Duggar in the midst of her sexual abuse scandal, as well as her exposure to the hacking of a website that facilitated adulterous affairs, of which she was a member. In addressing the struggles in her marriage, Anna said of Jill and Jessa: Expecting “It is a betrayal for a spouse to go through what we are going through… Not only was it a betrayal against me, but it was also a betrayal for those who become call Christians ».
She continued. “I knew my only hope was to hold onto my faith, because I know that if I got out of what I was feeling, it would turn a disaster into a disaster.”
Anna’s brother Daniel Keller would have been there to help clean up the mess. In 2015, People reported that he commented on Jessa (Duggar) Seewald’s Facebook post that he alluded to his brother’s discretion. Keller wrote: “I told him he would pay to move here [with] me and pay for his kidz. I don’t think Josh sees this as a big problem and that it really breaks until that happens. ” He continued, »said he would stay where he is. But I won’t stop trying to get that pig out of our family. ”
This plan was probably doomed, as Contact Keller is one of three separate siblings in his family.
Ben Seewald could make Thanksgiving uncomfortable
It should come as no surprise that Duggar’s conservative religious beliefs coincide with conservative Republican politics. Jim Bob Duggar is a former member of the Arkansas House of Representatives. He also lost an offer “for the Republican nomination for the United States Senate” in 2002, according to Buzzfeed News . Given Duggar’s conservative sensitivity, it’s not hard to imagine that his views don’t align with son-in-law Ben Seewald, who is married to Jessa (Duggar) Seewald.
According to Raw History, Ben has expressed his support for the left-leaning Black Lives Matter movement by retweeting evangelical preacher Russell Moore, who was mourning the death of Terence Crutcher, an unarmed black man who was shot by the police. Mamluk reported that he also retweeted Matt Smethurst, the managing editor of The Gospel Coalition, about the Republican Party’s hypocrisy when it comes to abortion. And while the Duggar family made it clear that they voted for Trump because he would “return America to God” (for Inquisitor ), in 2017 Seewald tweeted “I voted, but not for Trump or Hillary. I’m just saying that I don’t choose to identify with any of those parties in the first place. ”
To be clear, Seewald agrees with Duggar’s many beliefs, but it’s possible that his more outspoken political leanings may cause tension with some of his in-laws.
Cousin Amy Duggar King, the black sheep
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s children are cousins to Amy Duggar King (her mother is Jim Bob’s sister), but viewers have always known that she grew up under a more liberal regime than they. From their appearances on the show, it is clear that the Duggars are intrigued and entertained by the free spirit that can dance and drink alcohol.
When Derick Dillard’s crack with his in-laws became undeniable, Amy clearly took sides. You’re really shedding some light on some very dark gray areas! Keep it up! »She tweeted to him after his outrageous Christmas Instagram Q&A.
According to Hollywood Gossip Later, Amy recorded an interview with the reality vlog without a crystal ball, however the video was quickly “marked as private” after Amy allegedly said that an undisclosed person threatened her. with a lawsuit. ” In other words? Jim Bob totally tugged on the ropes, made some calls, and silenced Amy. »Inferred Hollywood Gossip Without naming her uncle, Amy confirmed the effort to keep her quiet. Tweeting , “I said it once, I’ll say it again … To [woman’s] the voice should never be silenced.”
In his own interview with Without a Crystal Ball, Derick said it is a shame that Amy is prevented from telling her truth. If Amy was even remotely out of combat with the Duggars, crossing the line to Derick’s side of this family argument has likely ensured that their relationship will worsen before it improves.
Austin Forsyth may be going down a slippery slope
Austin Forsyth and Joy-Anna (Duggar) Forsyth may have slightly broken courtship rules in an episode of Counting but some accidental touches probably pale in comparison to potentially damaging the family’s fortune.
Austin appears to be on good terms with his in-laws, but that may change depending on how a pending lawsuit goes. According to En contacto , he was sued in October 2019 by a couple who bought a house that he overturned. The lawsuit alleged that Forsyth assured them that he obtained a permit for the septic tank on his property, but after the tank began to leak, and the investigator determined that not only was a permit not obtained, but that the “land was not suitable for the septic system that was installed «. Now a new system is required, which could cost you in excess of $ 20,000 and you are trying to rescind your purchase “or, alternatively, for damages sustained, punitive damages, costs, attorneys’ fees and any other remedies this Court considers it necessary ” .
While this dispute is outside the family, it could cause one within it if Austin loses the battle and needs financial help. After all, Jim Bob had the men courting their daughters fill out an extensive questionnaire that included “a division related to men’s personal finances” (according to Daily Mail )
If you believe Dereck Dillard, Jim Bob Duggar tightly controls everything from the family’s finances to his reputation. A son-in-law threatening any of the above must tread carefully.
