Scott Disick has broken off a three-year relationship with 16 years younger model Sofia Richie, the daughter of legendary musician Lionel Richie, reports the Mirror. The reason for the breakup allegedly was his addiction to alcohol and drugs, vices that led to his 41-year-old wife Kourtney Kardashian divorcing him four years ago.
However, a source close to the couple claims that Sofia was also bothered by his growing closeness with Kourtney, with whom he has a 10-year-old son Mason, a five-year-old Reign and a seven-year-old daughter Penelope.
Scott, among other things, liked an old photo posted by Kourtney on social media, in which they are kissing while they were still married, which the press interpreted as one of the symptoms that he still felt something in his heart for Kourtney.
“Scott is always going to be in love with Kourtney, and that’s something Sofia had had to face since even before she got serious with him”, an insider told Us Weekly.
Source continued: “It’s been an ongoing thing. It just became more apparent that his family was more of a priority than she was, and his family would be his main priority over anything and anyone.”
A source stressed that most of the blame for the breakup lies with Scott, who has completely lost control of his alcohol and drug addiction since his parents died six years ago. But even before that, he came home countless times in an intoxicated state after partying while he was married to Kourtney, which cost him a divorce.
Just like Kardashian, Sofia was ‘overwhelmed’ and could no longer be in such a relationship. Also, she recently admitted that they carried out isolation during the coronavirus pandemic separately.
And that Scott and Kourtney are indeed getting closer is confirmed by the fact that they are both currently vacationing at the same resort in Mexico and that her mother Kris Jenner is openly cheering for them to be together again.
