Whether you’re trying to save a few bucks or meeting up with friends after a long day of school, nearly every one of Austin’s amazing restaurants features a Happy Hour. I rounded up some of my favorite spots to check out for great deals on both food and drinks.
Irene’s- While this indoor-outdoor hangout spot features a regular happy hour menu, they also have drink specials that change daily. From Monday to Thursday, Irene’s has themed nights such as Tequila Tuesday or Waiting on a Friend Wednesday. All drinks are under $5. Check out their website for specific times and more details. Monday-Saturday, 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm; Sunday, 10 am to 2 am http://irenesaustin.com
Valentine’s Date at Austin’s Classic Drive-In
Punk Rock Benefit Night For Two Classic Austin Radio Stations
Best Places to Watch the Super Bowl in ATX
Crown and Anchor- After a long day of studying on campus, head over to Crown and Anchor for a beer and some cheese fries. Each day of the week, the pub features $3.75 pints and $12.25 pitches of a select beer, ranging from local Austin ales to select Colorado brews. All other beers are lower priced from 2 to 7pm. Monday-Sunday, 2 pm to 7 pm; Weekly Bar specials run all day http://crownandanchorpub.com
Cain and Abel’s- Everyone in Austin has heard of Cain and Abel’s dangerous Texas Teas. The place is packed on their dollar-beer Tuesday’s, but don’t miss out on the other food and drink specials that run all week. Monday-Friday, 2 pm to 7 pm https://abels.com/original/
Bufalina- Sitting inside Bufalina is like sitting by a fire: it’s warm, there’s low lighting, and if you turn around, you can see the flames from inside their giant Stefano Ferrara pizza oven. Swing by for a great afternoon snack–all of their handmade Neapolitan pizzas are 50% off, and glasses of house wine are $5. Make sure to check their hours to avoid making the same mistake I did by showing up on a Tuesday. Wednesday-Sunday, 4 pm to 5:30 pm https://www.bufalinapizza.com
The Driskill Bar- You will automatically feel snug the second you step into this rustic bar, located in the iconic Driskill Hotel. Sink into one of the leather couches to enjoy a $7 cocktail or $4 glass of the house wine before heading to dinner at The Driskill Grill, named one of the best Old-School Steakhouses in Austin. Not in the mood for a big meal? All bar bites and snacks are half-off. Monday-Sunday, 4 pm to 7 pm https://driskillhotel.com/dining/driskill-bar/
Gabriel’s Cafe- Located on the bottom floor of the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, this cozy cafe is the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat when you’ve had a long day on campus. They boast a great menu of casual comfort food with many appetizers priced half-off during happy hour. Though not on the happy hour menu, I personally think their grilled cheese is one of the best I’ve ever had. Sit towards the back to have a great view of whatever sports are playing on TV or enjoy some time outside on their patio. Monday-Friday 4 pm to 7 pm https://www.meetattexas.com/dining/gabriels

Clark’s- While known for their seafood, Clark’s holds a spot on almost every list of the best burgers in Austin. The Black Angus burger served on a toasted brioche bun costs a whopping $19 during lunch and dinner hours, but during happy hour, it’s half-off. It’s almost worth getting just for the long shoestring fries. While you’re there, treat yourself to a $5 martini or draft beer. Monday-Friday 3 pm to 6 pm http://clarksaustin.com/
Uchi- Ask anyone where the best sushi is in Austin, and they’ll send you to Uchi. Unfortunately, amazing food comes at a price. To avoid a high bill, go during their daily Sake Social, where they serve their sustainably sourced fish in $6 hand rolls. Sake drinks are as low as $3. Monday-Sunday 5 pm to 6:30 pm https://uchiaustin.com
Fareground- If you like going out to eat with a big group of people, I bet you’ve run into a night where everyone is craving something different. Instead of settling, go to Fareground, which hosts a bar and six different restaurants serving up a variety of food. The bar offers $4 select beers and $5 select wines and cocktails, and each of the vendors have discounted food prices that change seasonally. My suggestions? Start with a cheese board from Antonelli’s, then grab a few sides or small dishes from each restaurant to try it all. Monday-Friday 3 pm to 6 pm https://faregroundaustin.com
Loro- If you haven’t heard of Loro, prepare to be amazed: it is the brainchild of two of Austin’s most well-known chefs, Uchi’s Tyson Cole and Franklin Barbecue’s Aaron Franklin. The two great minds came together to create this Asian smokehouse, featuring fun dishes like Candied Kettle Corn and Texas Sweet Corn, as well as some more traditional asian favorites like Chicken Karaage and Char Siew Pork Belly. Sit outside on their expansive patio on a sunny afternoon and cool off with one of their $4 boozy slushies. Monday-Friday 2 pm to 5 pm https://loroaustin.com
Easy Tiger- Easy Tiger is the ideal place to drink when the weather is nice outside. Snag a table on the back patio to challenge your friends in a game of ping pong in between mugs of draft beer. During Happy Hour, any of their incredible homemade sausages are only $5 a link. Pair that with a $3 side of soft pretzel and beer cheese, and you have the perfect accompaniment for your brew (or two). Monday-Friday 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm http://easytigeraustin.com
