8 Television Shows to Binge on Netflix this SummerBy Vivian LienPennsylvania State UniversityPop Culture
Bored with nothing to do this summer? Why not binge some TV Shows on Netflix…Here are some of my top picks for shows you should check out. I won’t include the typical shows that people tend to binge, such as The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Stranger Things, Friends, etc.1. iZombieLoosely based on a comic book of the same name, iZombie is about a woman who’s dream of becoming a surgeon is crushed after she is exposed to a zombie virus. She then takes a job at a morgue and helps a detective solve murders by eating the brains of the victims. By eating the brains, she gets visions, typically of the victims last few moments before their deaths. This comedic crime drama is a new type of narrative for the zombie genre. Although the protagonist is a zombie, it doesn’t stop her from being a likable and relatable character, which is not something we can say about other zombie shows.RELATED[Review]: Dan Gilroy’s Netflix Original “Velvet Buzzsaw” Is Absurdism To The ExtremeIs Friends Leaving Netflix or Not?Revisiting Black Mirror in an Age of Trump: “The Waldo Moment”2. The 100The 100 takes place in the future, where humans are now up in a spaceship called the Ark after a nuclear apocalypse happened on Earth. 97 years have passed and the Ark is dying. They then decide to send 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to see if it is habitable. The 100 is an action-packed sci-fi drama that always keeps its audience engaged.3. Unbreakable Kimmy SchmidtUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt follows the adventures of a woman New York City and the world for the first time after being rescued from a doomsday cult in an isolated underground bunker. It might sound dark, but this show is actually a comedy that it sure to conjure up a few laughs with its honesty and optimism.4. The Good PlaceThis comedy stars Kristen Bell as a woman who dies and ends up in the “Good Place,” only to find out that she was sent there by mistake. She then enlists the help of a friend to help improve her bad behavior, so that she could remain in the “Good Place” undetected. The Good Place manages to blend comedy and themes of morality in a clean and hilarious manner.Arrowverse Shows:If you love superhero dramas and have a lot of time on your hands this summer, you should totally check out shows that belong to the Arrowverse. It is six years in the making and it doesn’t disappoint.5. ArrowArrow, is about billionaire, Oliver Queen, as he returns home after being shipwrecked on an island for five years. Along with his return, Oliver becomes the Green Arrow, a vigilante with a mission to save his city. Having Batman-like themes, Arrow is probably the darkest and heaviest series in the Arrowverse.6.The FlashThe Flash takes a lighter approach to the superhero genre than Arrow. The show follows the adorkable crime scene investigator, Barry Allen, aka The Flash, as he and his team of scientists protect their city against metahumans.7. SupergirlYou’ve heard the story about the Man of Steel, but have you heard the one about his cousin? Supergirl is about Kara Danvers who decides to no longer suppress her superpowers and fight extraterrestrial and domestic threats to National City.8. Legends of TomorrowIf you love history or time travel shows, this is the Arrowverse show for you. Legends of Tomorrow takes characters from Arrow and The Flash and puts them in a show where they travel through time and space to stop time aberrations and villains who jeopardize the fate of the world and the very structure of the universe.Share This Article By Vivian LienGrowing up, I was a really active person. I did things like basketball, skiing, gymnastics, band, yearbook club, honor societies, martial arts, etc. But I enjoy traveling and learning about history (I know, you’re probably thinking “Well that’s boring”). Although I can be active, I also just like simply just watching Netflix or something. // directory Settings $cur_page_url = 'http'; if(isset($_SERVER['HTTPS'])) { $cur_page_url .= ($_SERVER['HTTPS'] == 'on' ?
