Drake Drops 'Scorpion': The Official Album of the Summer
Following his unannounced departure from One Direction, his album showcased the side of him as an artist that he was prevented from showing during his time on the band. His music was moodier as his voice explored a large arrangement of sounds. Despite his already large following from One Direction, his music gained a large amount of popularity. His first single, “Pillowtalk”, was number one on the Billboard charts for multiple weeks with his album following soot. The album went straight to the top of the charts initially selling 157,000 copies. He became the first male artist from the U.K. to have his first album hit number one in America. He kicked off his career with a bang as his music controlled the charts. Since the album’s release, everyone has wondered what was next for Zayn. We knew songs were in the works, however, no official statement about release days were given to the public. Just a couple days ago, our long wait was finally over.
Zayn’s release of “Let Me” is his first single before his second album despite his recent collaboration with Sia on “Dusk Till Dawn.” The song has a similar sound to his previous album, but just evolved. Zayn himself has said the creation of this album has been a lot of hard work but a lot of fun. He has obtained more confidence in himself and is excited to show fans how this new music demonstrates his maturity and growth since the release of “Mind of Mind.” Fans and critics alike are interested if his personal issues throughout the past year will have any impact in the songs in his album. There is even news that he plans on going on tour with this album. All this newfound information has fans excited for what’s to come. What kind of risks will he be taking with his music and will it be as successful as the first album? Until then, we have his new single “Let Me” to keep us entertained. Zayn has some high expectation from his fans, but I don’t think that will be a problem for him. He will continue to push the boundaries and his fans will be more than receptive to his growth as an artist.
