Breakaway Music Festival 2018 Announces Full Lineup For Nashville
Harry Styles: Live on Tour (Review)
“Dust” follows ANNALIA’s style of making “organic pop”– it’s catchy and upbeat but still feels raw. This is the second single from the upcoming EP and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come. We also got a chance to sit down with ANNALIA and ask her a few questions about her music making process, her influences, and also learn a little bit more about her.
Did your musical influences change after moving to Nashville for four years?
I became much more focused on developing my sound, which required me to really dig into my influences, old and new. So, I wouldn’t say they necessarily changed, rather I spent the time getting to know what and whom I am most inspired by. Fleetwood Mac and the queen herself, Stevie Nicks; Ellie Goulding; Troye Sivan, to name a few.

nic violets and lil cxxp Team Up for “diamonds are for friends”
What makes your music “organic” pop?
I use the word “organic” because I’m using raw sounds and real subject matter. I’m making pop songs with a twist… pulling in lots of real instrumentation and focusing on my lyrics having depth and meaning. If my fans want to dig deeper, it’s available to them, but they can also just dance along, if that’s what they want. It’s a refreshing balance between standard pop and meaningful, relatable storytelling.
What is “Dust” about to you?
“Dust” is about what it feels like to need time to settle into something, to ensure that you don’t mess it up in any way. It’s about asking for patience so that a strong connection can form and a relationship can blossom into vulnerability and comfort… while also touching on the aspect of the need for affirmation and reassurance within a relationship.
Did you write all the songs for the upcoming EP around the same time or is this project something you’ve gradually worked on for a long time?
I’ve been working on this project since March 2017. I wrote each song over the course of the last year at some point. The five that made the cut are the ones that spoke the most to me and that I found fit the project the best. The EP definitely time stamps a certain chapter of my life.
What’s something not many people know about you?
I’m a dancer, as well as a dance teacher and choreographer, so you can expect to see dance related content in the future!
You can find more from ANNALIA on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
