The hugely popular Netflix series followed the disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) in Season 1. After uncovering a government conspiracy, discovering a parallel dimension, and meeting scene-stealer Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will Byers was finally home. However, by the time the second season of “Stranger Things” opens, not everything is as normal as it seems.
Will is starting to have visions of his time in the Upside Down and leads towards a very dark path. Meanwhile, Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is dating Radio Shack employee Bob Newby (Sean Astin), Chief Hopper (David Harbour) is hiding many secrets, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) are falling for the new student in class, and Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) is still reeling from the loss of Eleven in the season 1 finale. However, Eleven is not done with Hawkins.
The other sub-plots involve the very complicated teenage love triangle of Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, and Johnathan Byers, and the introduction of new main characters. These main characters include tomboy Max (Sadie Sink), Max’s older brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery), and new Hawkins Laboratory head Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser).

[Review]: “Wanderlust”: A Charming Portrayal of Chaos
The best part of this season of “Stranger Things” is the acting. David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown, in particular, bring back their fantastic performances of Hopper and Eleven. Winona Ryder still has a very frantic energy in her performance (which might be an understatement), and the kids are still unbelievable.
The biggest surprise of this season is the performance of Noah Schnapp as Will Byers. Being mostly absent from the first season for obvious reasons, Schnapp’s screentime is nearly tripled in the second season. However, he is absolutely fantastic as traumatized pre-teen Will Byers.
“Stranger Things” is not experiencing the dreaded “sophomore slump”. In fact, after binge-watching this season, I can’t wait until the third season premieres, even if I have to wait another year or two.
