Cardinals hopes to keep the ball rolling after in-state victory.
Ball State’s men’s basketball (2-4) team is coming red-hot, right after a strong non-conference win against Indiana State. The Cardinals play their first game since then, tonight, against Oakland City (7 pm). Ball State’s back-court had an incredible game against the Sycamores with guard Tayler Persons scoring 18 points for the Cardinals while guards Sean Sellers and Jontrell Walker added on 13 points of their own, each.
Though the back-court has been playing well, the big’s will have to execute in order to beat the Mighty Oaks.
Oakland City (4-2) relies heavily upon their big men to garner a lot of productivity on offense. The Mighty Oaks have outscored all of their opponents in the paint thus far this season. Center, Addison Wagler is coming off of a 32 point game against Purdue University-Northwest. Wagner is their leading scorer, shooting .537 percent from the floor. Forward, Logan Worthington is another force in the paint that the Cardinals will have to shut down. Worthington is shooting .648 percent from the floor this season and leads the team in rebounds with 41 throughout the 6 games they have played so far.
With that said, Trey Moses and Tahjai Teague must play well in order to secure a win for the Cardinals. Teague is having an incredible season, shooting .611 percent from the floor and averaging 7.5 rebounds per game. Moses is also having a solid year, defensively, averaging 5 rebounds a game with 21 defensive rebounds so far on the season.
Be looking for these two to both have incredible games, offensively and defensively as they look to out-produce the Oakland City big men in the paint.
