Here is what to expect from Star Wars Battlefront 2, the new addition to the Star Wars video game franchise.
What to expect
Helping contribute to another great year of gaming, is the soon to be released Star Wars Battlefront 2. Now after massive complaints from its predecessor release ‘Battlefront’, EA answered the fans. With absolutely giant space maps, the hope of Galactic Conquest coming back, and of course a story line brought back into the Battlefront franchise. All of these will of course be discussed in more detail. Fans of the famous series can be happy that EA fixed the bugs for the most part, and hero characters are powerful yet balanced.
So, first and foremost we will talk about the Galactic Assault mode, this is similar to the first games walkers assault, just now with different factions. Playing as either the clones or droids you really get a feel for blasters of all shapes and sizes. The only downside I found was that droideka are not a playable option and there was not really a Clone Wars era hero for the Clones. With that being said, the action I was given from running around as a jetpack trooper or super battle droid was well worth my 22 hours of play. Overall, the in-game movement was much more fluid and progressive compared to its 2015 counterpart.
What I am most excited to see play out is the games new campaign mode. It is supposedly suppose to cover the events after episode 6 until episode 7. Which, if you are a giant Star Wars fan you will want to see how this plays out. The premise of the story line is from the imperial side too, which you are following the perspective of Iden Versio the leader of Inferno squad.
What To Hope For
Now, all that being said you can hope that EA either has some amazing story line played out, or that they have an absolutely fantastic surprise awaiting for Star Wars Battlefront players. Players can see themselves thrown back in to the heated action of multiplayer once more, with more gun options and even more ability options available. If you are a huge fan of flying your Tie Fighter or X-wing rest assured you can fly them once more, but this time with even bigger maps and more objective driven fighting.
What I Didn’t Like
Before I go in to more details about what I didn’t like please remember this was a beta and not the full game so many things are still subject to change. I was disappointed as a player to not see the droideka rise in the droid army. Even if it was an expensive unit to put on the battlefield and used most of your battle points. Another thing the beta fell short on was the clone army didn’t really have Clone Wars era hero. For instance the clones were given Rey and Han Solo, both great characters in the franchise, but not a “Clone Wars Era” hero.
Overall this year is looking like another killer year for Star Wars as a franchise. From Battlefront releasing on November 17th to Star Wars The Last Jedi releasing on December 15th the franchise has potential to yet again break records. Battlefront 2 isn’t shaping to be a bad game, a ton of the bugs you dealt with in the first Battlefront seemed to have been fixed, I could be wrong as more maps roll out, but people should still be very excited for the potential Battlefront 2 presents to new-comers and seasoned veterans of the franchise.
