Prepare for A$AP Fire.
Harlem rapper and fashion icon A$AP Rocky will be releasing the follow up to his 2015 At.Long.Last.Asap by the end of this year. In an interview with Complex, Rocky confirmed that the project would drop before 2018. This release will be the A$AP Mob member’s third studio album since his debut album, Long.Live.Asap, dropped in 2013.
So far this year, we’ve seen successful releases from the A$AP Mob collective, with A$AP Twelvyy’s debut album, 12, A$AP Ferg’s Still Striving mix tape and A$AP Mob’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy. A few weeks ago, Rocky additionally announced that popularly known London grime artist, Skepta, would be featured on the forthcoming album. Although Rocky hasn’t officially confirmed when the album will drop, he’s given us a few singles to ease the wait.
Snippets of songs rumored to be entitled “Wok” and “Swoosh God” can be heard in a clip of the A$AP Mob’s DVD for their creative collective, AGWE. The AWGE collective essentially showcases the group’s artistic capabilities through fashion, photography, and music. You can hear both unreleased singles in the clip below.
The first track, Wok, gives off a vintage, wavy hip hop vibe as Rocky raps about fashion accessories. As far as production, Metro Boomin is rumored to have crafted Wok.
In the clip, Rocky raps, “New Prada bag/Brown butterscotch/They don’t know Flacko/I’m grippin’ the wop/I do what I want, I’m sippin’ the Wock/I model for Dior/Coogi down to the socks.”
Besides Rocky’s recent music releases and AWGE endeavors, he continues to model for Dior and has also announced a partnership with the athletic apparel and footwear brand, Under Armour. The collaboration will aim to uplift less fortunate students and families by establishing community centers and programs through which they can create their own art.
If things go as planned, we should have Rocky’s album before Christmas. In the meantime, make sure to give Wok and the A$AP Mob collective’s latest project, Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy, a listen.
