Between climate change, problematic politicians, and online trolls, our world is going through a lot. While staying informed is incredibly important, flipping on the news can oftentimes be kind of depressing. To stay in the know without losing your mind, feel free to do a little carefree binge-watching in between your New York Times updates. After all, not everything has to be so serious.
This nostalgic sitcom is the perfect thing to watch when all you want is to remember simpler times. Except for those moments when Red says something really demeaning and misogynistic to Kitty…then we remember how grateful we are to live in such a progressive society:)
Is Netflix’s “Verónica” Really the Scariest Movie Ever Made?
An absolute classic, The Office is sure to brighten your mood anytime. The Gifs from the show alone are enough to crack you up. All we need in our lives is a little Michael Scott.
A feel good show that’ll get you in your throwback feels, Freaks and Geeks is a great option to escape the woes of today and focus on those of the 80s instead. Young James Franco makes for a pretty good distraction, too.
Hardworking, lovable, and an epitome of girl power, Jane Villanueva and her crazy family make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. Don’t worry, it’s a good, cathartic kind of cry. Not the “I’m fearing for the state of our nation” cry that’s been all to prevalent as of late.
Another binge-worthy classic, Friends goes without saying as a Netflix. Between Ross and Rachel’s on again, off again romance and Chandler’s corny jokes, you’ll undoubtedly feel better after watching.
Quirky enough to crack you up and bizarre enough to entertain you out of your agony, Chewing Gum is a great pick-me-up. Sometimes, we just need a little weirdness.
The love and witty banter between Rory and Lorelai is just enough to make up whatever cruelty the universe decides to put us through. Now that you’ve got the follow-up series on Netflix, you’re set.
With the trouble Gabi Diamond always gets into, our reality doesn’t seem all that bad. At least we’ve never accidentally dated our boss’ high school aged neighbor…or at least I hope not.
It may not be as soothing as Tran cradling you in a swimming pool, but New Girl will get the job done when it comes to lifting your mood.
Another blast from the past that will make forget the woes of the present. Personally, nothing makes me feel more mushy inside than throwing myself into the love story of Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper.
I don’t think I need to explain the power behind the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Living underground may have been a disadvantage for her, but it sure has provided some quality entertainment for us. Kimmy Schmidt surely is “a miracle!!!”
