Let’s admit it, there’s a lot going on in your life and even more going on in the world. Your best getaway is chilling with some friends, having some drinks and turning up the volume on some good music. However, being a corner-cutting college student looking for a good quality speaker makes it hard to blast tunes without breaking the bank. So, in honor of making the best of your outdoor summer cookouts, here is a list of the best portable speakers at a fair price.
Colorways: Carbon (black), Pearl (white), or Black/Brown.

Features: Opening the list is arguably the best speaker for the mid price range. The well acclaimed Bose brand has long been established as making great quality and sleek products, and their Mini Soundlink II embodies the best of what the brand has to offer. A portable staple for any function, I personally love this piece because Bose has always been a high-end brand when it comes to audio accessories. Fortunately for us, they offer the usual high quality at a more affordable price. While the price tag may be an expensive upfront payment, it’s an investment for the years to come.
This gem is essentially from the Apple family, just like your iPhone or Mac. The Beats Pill+ is an upgrade from the original Beats Pill. The Pill+ has a much more sturdier look that almost looks like an attempt of the Mini Soundlink. This one can definitely be placed anywhere as well. Although I’m not the biggest fan of Beats, it definitely knows how to brand itself and set itself apart in the market. You can find it for $230 in Apple or if you’re a little more practical than that you can get it for $200 at any other major retailer. It can be found in red, black and white.
Without much bias to the brand, it’s time to come back to Bose. If you have $116 to spend on a speaker, this is probably the one you should target yourself to get. It’s rugged, it’s water resistant, and easy to hold in your hand. What more can you ask for in it’s price range? Yes, it might be small so it isn’t a huge party starter. Regardless, you can rely on listening anything from country to trap to house to set the mood. Since the speaker is called the Color Soundlink, it lives up to its name offering a variety of colors: light blue, red, white and black. Definitely lights up the scene wherever you set up your improv DJ booth.
If there was any competition to the Bose Color Soundlink that I just mentioned, it would be this one. The JBL Charge 3 is colorful, waterproof, and loud. Retailing at $129, The JBL Charge 3 is able to connect with multiple JBL speakers to really amplify your listening experience. The Charge 3 beats the Color Soundlink by offering 5 different colors: Black, Blue, Red, Grey and Turquoise.
Whatever speaker you go with, this list should definitely narrow down your options by allowing you to decide from the best combinations of price and quality. Wherever you go, these speakers will be the best ones to light up your party.
