6 of the Best Christmas Albums to Listen to During the HolidaysBy Allison WulfhorstPennsylvania State UniversityPop Culture
Christmas may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still listen to the music if you’re feeling a little Christmas withdrawal. It’s the holly and jolly tunes that get us every time we hear them, after all who doesn’t belt out the words to “All I Want For Christmas Is You” whenever they hear it?Many artists of different genres created their own spins on these classical Christmas tunes and here are some of the best to check out this holiday season:1. That’s Christmas To Me – PentatonixPentatonix is the group who absolutely crush every cover they create and this stands true for every song on this album. All the covers of these Christmas favorites are amazing and their a capella sound makes them sound even more magical. They even have their own original song, “That’s Christmas To Me,” which might even be better than all the covers. But that’s for you to decide; this album doesn’t disappoint in the slightest.2. Christmas – Michael BubleMichael Buble is a household name that everyone and their mother knows. His voice suits not only his original songs, but Christmas music too. In fact, it seems to suit Christmas music even better. He has that old-fashioned voice that reminds the listener of the classic Christmas singers like Bing Crosby. This album is basically a staple for the holiday season.3. Christmas Eve and Other Stories – Trans-Siberian OrchestraTrans-Siberian Orchestra is another group that is well-known by many, but this album is one that doesn’t seem to be as popular. Most people know their rendition of “Carol of the Bells” but they have recreated so many other classics. And they all appear on this album. So take a break and relax to some instrumental Christmas songs while you relax by the fire.4. Merry Christmas – Mariah CareyLet’s be honest, you’re just going to replay “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and there’s nothing wrong with that. At least check out some other songs on here, people say they are pretty good.5. Punk Goes ChristmasFans of rock and all the subgenres in between will be particularly thrilled by this one. This album features artists signed to Fearless Records, a rock label, recreating old Christmas favorites and their own original Christmas tunes. The album features artists like This Wild Life with their acoustic rendition of “Sleigh Ride” and The Summer Set’s pop rock version of “This Christmas.” Along with covers, The Ready Set created their own original song, “I Don’t Want To Spend Another Christmas Without You” and New Found Glory’s “Nothing For Christmas.” This album is great to give Christmas songs a new twist.6. On This Winter’s Night – Lady AntebellumCountry trio put their southern twist onto Christmas favorites with their own Christmas album as well. With a killer lineup of songs like “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” and “This Christmas,” this record has it all. You don’t have to be a fan of country either. It’s not completely country so those who aren’t fans of the genre won’t enjoy it. It’s meant to be enjoyed by everyone, which they did a good job of doing.Fans of Christmas music now have quite the list of albums to listen to during the holidays, whether you’re relaxing with your family, baking cookies, drinking hot cocoa, watching the snow fall, and much more. These albums will make each one of those experiences even more special.
