Life is Too Short, Be Happy
So you’re either graduating or you’ve just graduated and you are getting paid between 2-5 grand a month (let’s hope). Then you decide you are eight years old and want to impress a client or even your mom, dad, crazy ex, date, followers or neighbors. You don’t need much cash to look like you just broke the bank and you certainly don’t need much to fool anyone into thinking that you’ve got a good thing going. If you really really wanted to, you could stretch that budget enough procure the best cars on the market that offer the maximum amount of SWAG for as little dough as possible. Yes, I admit that some of them are terrible. But I won’t tell you which ones and I won’t go into detail because this isn’t all about precision, comfort or even common sense. Its about embracing your pseudo success and looking “bankable” which, depending on your line of work, is extremely important. Its about showing up to aunt Janine’s house on Thanksgiving, when all your cousins are in Honda Civics and your sister or brother’s fiancé is walking from the bus stop…
These babies are either brand new or hardly used:

New (er) model
This might be one of those dreary ones but its okay. That’s because prices start at $32,000 for 2015 models and the outgoing older models, which are available for only $10,000 look a bit like Rolls Royce’s. That’s a bit like saying you made that pizza you just warmed up out of the box. Neat.
9. Used ’12 Cadillac CTS
How about another all-American? The newer model looks pretty similar so your clients won’t really be able to tell. You can find these for around $25,000.
8. New Lotus Elise
How about this? A British pocket rocket that goes to 60 in 6 seconds and looks like that should cost around 100 grand. Well, the Elise is available for just $44,000. The best thing about it is it’s size and extreme lack of weight. It’s also pretty hard to find in North America so there’s that exclusivity factor in your favor.
7. Used ’12/’13 Mercedes Benz C-Class
Yes, new models are out so this won’t stay in vogue for long. But a tri- star in your garage? Yes please, for $24-25 thousand.
6. Used ’07/’08 BMW Z4
This a little older, but just look at it. A stunning piece of design that hasn’t really dated. Its also a convertible BMW so you and your partner (or dog) can get access to a 100 million miles of sky.
5. New Dodge Challenger
America has a long history of producing great looking rides on the cheap. This is one of them. The Challenger starts out at $27,000 for the base model (which isn’t that jaw dropping) and around $35,000 for the better ones. The thing is, all you need to do is spend a few bucks on a pair of shades and a haircut to get you to think you look like Vin Diesel from the Fast and the Furious.
4. New Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ
Firstly, they all are the same car (it’s shocking, I know). Secondly, you can get one for 25 grand! That’s like, $25,000. I bet you thought it was at least 50. Thirdly, I don’t think there’s a better looking Japanese car out there at this price. It’s also good, really good. I mean, it’s this or aunt Janine’s Camry: no-brainer.
3. Used ’09 Jaguar XF
The XF doesn’t look like it’s left the showroom despite being 5 years old. The new model is already out, but it doesn’t have that much more visual presence, not when the ’09 model can be found for $17,000. Most people who buy these type cars end up in a Merc or a BMW, making this more exclusive and interesting.
2. New/Old Every Ford Mustang & Every Chevy Camaro
You can get either of these for around $23,500. Neither is very technologically advanced or refined, but who cares? What do you want for nothing? This is where all that history and tradition really makes the difference. The added value you get from any of these legendary badges (Challenger above included) is pretty much priceless. And look at them!
1. ’07/’08 Porsche Cayman or Boxter
Cayman Boxter S
I know it’s not a 911, but really. How can you turn down a $25,000 Porsche? This will definitely get the most heads turning out of anything on this list and since (as you can see above) Porsche’s all look more or less the same to the untrained eye, it really doesn’t matter which one you get, you’re in the game.
