On a day full of new releases, a new Fresh Music Friday is here! Check out the full playlist below
Michael Cottone: ‘guidance’ – Travis Scott
Scott seemingly makes these playlists weekly, but that’s because he’s one of the best all around talents in the rap game right now. This song in particular has one of the dirtiest beats on his second LP. Scott’s third LP should be coming sometime in the near future, and I know I’m looking forward to it.
‘Work Song’ – Hozier
Hozier’s melancholic voice is undeniably powerful, especially on this song. The lyrics are full of figurative language, but he paints a clear picture of what he’s trying to say.
Maxwell Denari: ‘FYBR (First Year Being Rich)’ – A$AP Mob
Off the Mob’s new tape “Cozy Tapes Vol. 2”, this track is smooth with an exceptionally catchy piano loop. Twelvyy comes out of the gate to start the tempo of the track and Rocky follows. Exceptional production and playful lyrics on this song and many of the other tracks show why this tape is just too cozy.
Matthew Keyser: ‘Blue Orchid’ – The White Stripes.
‘Blue Orchid’ is probably my favorite song by the Detroit-based duo because of how both Meg and Jack White fill what would otherwise be empty space. The octave effect on the guitar stands in for the bass and Meg’s unconventional drumming style fits the rough-and-tumble music.
Mason Pippenger: ‘GUMMY’ – BROCKHAMPTON.
This is the first song off their new album SATURATION II. I think this song really encompasses and shows what kind of group BROCKHAMPTON is. The the production has definitely improved from previous albums and it’s cool to see them grow. GUMMY is fun song but really brings strong verses from every member. I think this album will really be a milestone for this group.
