It has been four years since HAIM released their first debut album, and on Friday the trio of sisters set their sophomore album, “Something To Tell You” out into the world.
With HAIM’s second album carrying a traditional alternative rock sound, it has got a good variety of songs that are both mellow and upbeat. Most of the tracks on the album seem to reflect on not only relationships, but also the personal growth that each of the sisters has gone through over the years since their first album; “Days Are Gone” was released.
With Danielle Haim leading the vocals on every track and her sisters Este and Alana harmonizing with her, each song carries a uniquely different sound. No two songs tell the same story about the sister’s personal relationships and listening to through the lyrics in every track sets up an amazing composition that the whole album creates.
While HAIM’s first album was filled with more energetic songs, it’s safe to say that there is a more present sense of maturity on “Something To Tell You,” not only with the lyrics, but also with their approach to creating their music. With their singles like “Want You Back” and “Little of your Love,” the Haim sisters are definitely proving that they know what they want and are a force to be reckoned with. This album carries traces of emotional vulnerability and it is that vulnerability and honesty that helped to create such an amazing record.
