See what we’ve been listening to this week!
Michael Cottone: ‘Step’ by Vampire Weekend
I traveled to New York this week and this band was played heavily while on the road. Their sound is something nice to have on in the background, and admire the views along the road while driving. It gives me the feel as if my life is in a music video or a movie.
‘Slide’ by Calvin Harris
I have not been known to be a big fan of Calvin’s music, but his new album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 is a transition that I appreciated from the Scottish producer. The sounds on this album are wavy, funky, and dance-inducing. This song in particular stood out to me because of the killer features of Frank Ocean and Migos. Frank took over this song as soon as his vocals kicked in. If you haven’t listened to Harris’ new album, do yourself a favor and go hear it.
Max Denari: ‘Mirage’ by Toro Y Moi
The first track off of his brand new LP, ‘Boo Boo’ is a brilliant opening and obvious case of Chaz Bundick using textures closely related to his earliest releases. Chilly, lo-fi synthesizers capture this song and assist in giving it a fresh and seductively danceable beat. Toro Y Moi is now a staple name in modern alternative pop and rock. Be sure to listen to this new LP in its entirety.
Cole Callahan: ‘Who Dat Boy’ by Tyler, the Creator
I’m always alert when a new track by Tyler is dropped. His energy and sense of creativity is exhibited in this elaborate music video. Tyler gets a feature from A$AP Rocky for the second time, and I’m excited to see what comes with his new album Flower Boy in two weeks.
‘Final Song’ by MØ
I thought of this song a lot this past weekend when I took a trip down to Georgia to visit my girlfriend. She makes me the happiest and hearing this song is a comforting reminder of her.
