Yes, you read that title right. There is a Cheetos museum in New York City.
I am a huge fan of the cheesy, crunchy snack that is Cheetos and I like art, so I will certainly be visiting the Cheetos Museum in Times Square or the one at Grand Central Terminal this summer. The snack company teamed up with Ripley’s Believe it or Not to open an exhibit all about Cheetos.
The entire exhibit is full of the cheesy snack contorted into different shapes. The company has a contest going currently to have more “art” to add to the exhibit’s collection. Anyone who finds an odd shape in their bag of cheesy goodness can snap a pic and submit it to CheetosMuseum.com. All entrants have the opportunity to win big for having a creative eye. The coolest shapes can win up to $5,000 and the two top entrants face off to win $50,000. That is a huge pay off for just taking a picture of an oddly shaped piece of cheese-covered cornmeal.
As for the museum itself, the entire room is filled with Cheetos. The walls are a mix of Flamin’ Hot and Cheesy varieties and there is even a Chester the Cheetah sculpture made out of the snack. It is incredible. The room probably smells amazing– or disgusting. I cannot wait to visit and see what this museum is all about.
The winners of the Cheetos Museum contest will have their delicious snack featured at the museum through the end of the exhibit. So, if you happen to win, you can put on your resume that you are an artist.
I will certainly be visiting the new exhibit in Times Square or Grand Central this summer, but you probably will not see me entering anything into the contest. I love the snack too much to even think about harboring them in hopes of winning.
