Cannes Lions International Festival Take Off.
This year’s Cannes Lions International Creativity Festival took place from June 17 to June 23 and it was a rollercoaster, or should I say Ferris wheel?
Some of the highlights of the festival were was Publicis CEO, Arthur Sadoun announced that the agency was done with Cannes Lions Festival for at next the next couple years and discussion on the future of advertising with AI.
The Big Winner:
Fearless Girl statue definitely stole the show. What started out as a marketing campaign evolved into something much bigger, a symbol of the women’s fight for equality. The statue won three Grand Prix awards, including the Glass Lion.
The Art Institute of Chicago teamed up with Airbnb to fulfill every artist’s dream: to be inside a painting. The Van Gogh BnB allows visitor to stay the night in one of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings, “Bedroom”. The exhibition won 14 Cannes Lions awards including the Grand Prix for Creative Effectiveness.
Awards aside, there were some interesting highlights to the event. Snapchat surprised all the attendees by placing a snapchat-yellow Ferris wheel right in the heart of Cannes.
Something that went quite uncommented on the media, but should have received more attention was the pizza boat. Is there anything that scream “over expensive ad festival in France” than a pizza delivering yacht?
