Good news: You don’t need to skip your workout just because you’re on vacation!
The perfect beach workout! If you are vacationing down the shore, here is a list of exercise movements to do on the beach that are sure to make your body burn. Working out in the sand adds resistance to make for a challenging yet rewarding full-body workout!
Not only will this be great cardio for the day, but it will also really work your calves as you trudge through the sand! Do 5 sprints, each about 100 meters.
This will work your legs and butt as you squat, as well as your calves when you jump up. And it’s aerobic! Do 50 total.
Find a near ledge that is the right height for you. This could be a lifeguard stand, lifeguard boat, boardwalk, step, anything! Use your triceps to sink your body down and push back up. Do 50 total.
Everybody’s favorite! Doing these in the sand will be challenging on all parts of your body, but you will feel great once they’re over. Do 50 total.
Make sure to keep your form even when your feet begin to slide. Your body should be in a straight line. This will really engage your core! Do 5 planks, each for 1 minute.
Alternating Lunge Jumps
Talk about leg day! Try to keep a fast pace when jumping to the opposite leg. Make a deep lunge, bringing your knee all the way to the ground. If you do them right, your legs will be burning. Do 100 total, 50 each leg.
Time for more cardio! Bring your knees as close to your chest as you can. This movement will work your calves, thighs, butt, and core. Do 5 sets of mountain climbers, each for 30 seconds.
Let’s wrap up the workout with some good old-fashioned push ups! Engage your chest, shoulders, and triceps by bringing your chest as close to the ground as possible. Your hands and feet may begin to slide in the sand, but you have to keep your form. Do 50 total.
Beach Workout Wrap Up
Make sure to stretch before and after the workout, loosening up your muscles. The nice thing about these movements is that they are flexible. Make up your own sets and reps if you wish to split up the workout to your liking. Either way, this beach workout will kick some serious butt!
