After a four year hiatus, Paramore reveals their brand new album ‘After Laughter’. Here are the five best tracks from the album that you need to listen to.
It’s been four years since Paramore’s self-titled album debuted and on May 12th 2017, fans everywhere rejoiced when the trio released their 5th studio album After Laughter. The new album offers twelve very indie-rock, 80s sounding songs that can capture every mood you’re in this summer. These are the five stand-outs that are sure to catch your ear and get stuck in your head.
1. “Hard Times”
This first very catchy song on the album was also the first song introduced to the world in the middle of April and it pleasantly surprised most people. It’s clear that “Hard Times” has a slightly different sound than some of Paramore’s older more rock-heavy songs just because of the very upbeat and vibrant nature. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to dance on a beach in the Bahamas for hours with a Strawberry Daiquiri in hand.
2. “Rose-Colored Boy”
This pop-rock jam is filled with the perfect mix of being uplifting as well as being filled with annoyance from lead singer Hayley more than anything. The lyrics “Just let me cry a little bit longer, I ain’t gon’ smile if I don’t want to” give this snappy song a good punch.
3. “Told You So”
Being the second single released from the album, this fresh tune has a very similar sound to “Hard Times” and no one is complaining. It is extremely catchy because of how repetitive some of the lyrics are as well as because of the jumpy, fast-paced beats. It’s almost as if this song was created solely for the purpose of rolling your car windows down in the summer and singing at the top of your lungs.
4. “Fake Happy”
The first chunk of “Fake Happy” leads you to believe you’re listening to the soundtrack of Juno because of the soft, acoustic sound which is definitely what makes this song stand out in the album. After the calm, there’s always the storm (in the best way possible). After settling down about 35 seconds in, Paramore winds back up with their classic rock n’ roll sound and provides you the perfect beats to play air-piano to.
5. “Caught In The Middle”
“Caught In The Middle” flawlessly captures what it’s like to be in the position where you’re constantly being forced to become motivated and think about your future while doing everything in your power to not look behind you and dwell on the past. It’s very focused on not letting anyone else interfere with your own self-destruction. If the chorus of this song doesn’t get stuck in your head for at least 4 days straight then I will personally mail you a dollar. Not only is it great lyrically, but Hayley’s vocals and the guitar riffs truly make this tune unforgettable.
