Summer is right around the corner and that means sun, vacations, and tons of time to discover new music!
It seems like all musicians are releasing new singles and albums right now, but here are a few songs that you should listen to throughout the season:
1. “Heart Eyes” by COIN
This song is one that is featured on COIN’s newest album “How Will You Know If You Never Try”. With soft vocals and a catchy beat, the entire track is just one that screams “summer”. It’s one of the many songs out there that are perfect to listen to while driving with your windows down.
2. “Hard Times” by Paramore
Paramore released their new album, “After Laughter” back on May 12, 2017. While they stayed true to their musical roots, it was nice to see them dabble in creating pop music for a change. The group completely went outside of their known genre and this single has been on repeat since it was released. I have a strong feeling that this single along with many of their other songs will be taking over the radio stations this summer.
3. Nice2KnoU” by All Time Low
This track is the fourth single that All Time Low has released in preparation of their new album coming out in June. The song’s overall message is just all about doing the most you can in the last few moments that you have with a person. The song is upbeat and the chorus definitely gets stuck in your head. So far out of the four songs that have been shared with their fans, there’s just something about this particular one that brings me back to when “Weightless” had just been released.
4. “Want You Back” by Haim
“Want You Back” is the second single that the three sisters have put out that will be featured on their upcoming album that is set to be released in July. This song has easily become a favorite to listen to and the harmonies are too good to be real. The single is one of three songs that the Haim sisters have released from their new album and it’s definitely my favorite to listen to.
5. “This Must Be My Dream” by The 1975
Even though this song came out last year, it’s still a favorite coming off of the band’s sophomore album “I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It”. If you just think about 80’s pop and a superficial teenage romance and you’ve basically got the whole vibe of this song. All of The 1975’s songs have been in my playlist ever since their album was released. They’re just all so good, but this is definitely my favorite. I seriously can’t wait for their third album, “Music for Cars” that’s planned to be released in 2018.
6. “Good Girls” by LANY
LANY is a band that is rapidly gaining attention. They just finished touring with John Mayer, and later in June they are releasing their first debut album. Everyone of the band’s songs feature creative hooks, and their beats will make you want to dance. If you’re an avid lover of snapchat and their filters, this song might be recognizable as it was featured on the app not too long ago. The band will also be touring all across North America later in the year and tickets are insanely cheap. You should definitely go and check them out.
7. “There’s a Honey” by Pale Waves
This Manchester-based band is fairly new to the music scene, but their single is incredible. Pale Waves were recently signed to Dirty Hit Records and George Daniel and Matty Healy from The 1975 even produced their song. The band is currently touring with The 1975 and will hopefully be releasing more hit singles soon. Personally, I’m extremely excited to hear more songs being produced by this band and who knows, there could even be a collaboration with The 1975 on their album.
8. “Slow Hands” by Niall Horan
Niall Horan has done amazingly well for himself since taking a break from One Direction and creating solo music. “Slow Hands” is a song that has a slow, funky beat and it’s seriously so good. The song is completely different from his first single “This Town”, but it’s still just as good, if not better. With the different sounds that these songs present, I wonder what sound Horan will lean towards more. If this is any indication of how his album is going to sound, I personally can’t wait until the Fall which is supposedly when Niall’s debut album will be released.
9. “Kiwi” by Harry Styles
Ever since Styles has released his album, this song has probably been one of the most played tracks. “Kiwi” is just too good to not listen to. Of course all of his songs are brilliant, but there’s something about this particular one that has me singing it constantly. This rock-and-roll track is definitely one that will keep you amped up during summer nights.
10. “Twice” by Catfish and the Bottlemen
“Twice” is a song that captures your full attention and has you singing along to it every time it comes on. The song has honest lyrics that almost everyone can relate to, and the production of the song is just too good. All of Catfish and the Bottlemen’s songs are wonderful but this single is definitely my favorite off of their second album, “The Ride”. The band is currently on their own headlining tour and will be the opening act for Green Day’s tour in the summer.
