Just recently, Oh Wonder released their brand new single, “Ultralife.” A song full of life, love, and enough simping to go around for everyone!
Imagine yourself living single. Life doesn’t really seem like the same adventure anymore. In this stage of your growth, you’ve probably done everything you could to enjoy who you are and how far you’ve gotten. Now you begin to decline (if you can’t find your way up or stagnant, then the next direction to go is down). You aren’t experiencing enough, everything becomes a routine, and there’s a feeling of emptiness that occupies your gut. What do you do? How do you get out of this? Suddenly, out of the void of hopelessness comes a new human coming in to change your life. It’s all more than life; it’s love.
“Ultralife” describes a feeling we don’t receive when we’re single.
The vocals of our favorite duo, Josephine Vander Gucht & Anthony West, shoot us with lyrics such as “I never could’ve asked for more // I got so much soul inside my bones // Take a look at me now // I’m young, forever in the sun // Ever since you came, I’m living ultralife //I’m living ultralife. ” These are some powerful words just to be talking about someone you have feelings for, but that’s just it. This person pops into your life, you get to know them, and now you experience a sensation of euphoria and liberation. They give us a new sound that is much more hard-hitting, energeting, and compelling compared to their self-titled preceeding album.
It’s quite obvious when you hear the word ‘ultralife.’ This is the next step above our existential being. Whether it’s a soulmate or a charismatic infatuation, it’s only a feeling that probably comes when we least expect it.
This isn’t where it ends…
Oh Wonder has also released “Lifetimes” that describes the security after assured about the intense initation of the relationship. *Brad’s Tip: Blast this song while you’re on a long drive with your loved one.*
Oh Wonder’s sophomore album, “Ultralife,” is expected to be out on June 16th.
