These tips will help you get the most out of Spotify, point you to the best features and help you become a power-user in no time.
Spotify is an amazing and incredibly user friendly music streaming app available on all devices. Launched in 2008, Spotify has been providing an innovative and unique music streaming platform to consumers for nearly 10 years. Their dedication to creating an atmosphere that promotes the discovery of new music is something to be admired. They provide multiple of their own sources to help users find new artists and songs based on their own interests. As a self proclaimed Spotify expert and ~playlist curator~, I present to you: The best parts of your Spotify account that you might accidentally ignore! Ta da!
Spotify somehow, magically creates a personalized playlist based on artists and songs you listen to every week. They generate a playlist of 30 songs that are usually bomb as hell. These playlists help me find new favorite songs and artists that I’ve never heard before. But, this playlist is updated every Monday, so be sure to save the ones you like and get ready for a whole new list of fresh tracks.
Your Daily Mix:
Similarly to the Discover Weekly playlists, the Your Daily Mix section offers personalized playlists every day. But, they are 6 different unique playlists that are each representative of a different style or genre that you enjoy. The playlists are centered around artists and songs that you listen to often; so they include a mixture of your favorites that you already know and new songs from that artist or style. These are great for when you want a little of what you love, but you still “live for danger” and want to gamble a bit. This too, is a great resource for discovering new artists and songs.
Spotify Made Playlists:
As much as I love and cherish my favorite hobby: creating the perfect playlist, I quite often find myself turning to the Browse tab on my Spotify page to check out some fresh tunes when I’m a little tired of my go to. Many of those playlists are really well made and have quality artists on them. These are definitely another resource to discover new music. Some of my favorites are Alternative R&B, Silk Sheets, and Pop Chillout. The page is organized into genre, mood, and other categories, so it’s easy to find anything you’re looking for. Also, Spotify makes playlists featuring artists, including all their most popular songs. They are titled “This is: (insert artist here)”. I’m currently obsessed with the This is: Bee Gees playlist. It is absolute gold. P.S. If anyone can hook me up with a job at Spotify just making these playlists, hmu.
Finally, Spotify radio is a gift from heaven. It is simply the most direct way to discover your new favorite songs. You can start a radio station with any song, artist, album, or playlist and a slew of similar songs appear. Or, Spotify can generate a station for you, based on a genre. The station can be improved when you give your feedback about each song that plays.
Overall, this Swedish startup has grown into an incredibly user friendly resource for the music lover to improve and grow their repertoire and broaden their musical horizons. I now send you off to, hopefully change your Spotify experience and become the well rounded music lover I know you can be.
If you want to follow me on Spotify, I try my hardest to make those bomb playlists for my fans!
