Harry Styles’s “Sign of the Times” embraces epic arena rock on the way to launching the former One Directioner’s solo career.
Harry Styles, a 23 year old artist, is most know him from the band called One Direction, a pop band that originated in London. Not long ago the band had mentioned their split and decision to sign on a few solo deals. There hasn’t been much heard from the young artists until recently. This changed early Friday morning, April 7th, when Styles released his new hit solo “Sign of the Times.”
Styles branched off from his pop, dance music and transformed into a young rocker himself. He’s been inspired by the 1970 music icons such as Bowie, Queen and the late Beatles. When listening to his recent single, you can feel how Styles has been inspired and learning from these rock bands. From the start of the song he has such strong vocals with a piano solo continuing into his chorus which hits a melody of percussion and heavy guitar.
A lot of discussion is going on about how Styles has entered a new genre. Keeping up to date with recent critics and comments off Reddit, some people are stating they can feel his inspiration of music from artists like Bowie through his music. Some are even saying he’s reinventing rock music for our generation.
Harry styles will be performing his new hit single “Sign of the Times” on Saturday Night Live on April 15th. He will also be performing another new hit single that he has yet to release. His first solo performance will also take place on the The Graham Norton Show back in the U.K.
