We are back with our latest installation of ‘Fresh Music Friday’. Check out what Verge Campus Ball State has been listening to this week.
My pick for this week is ‘Rosie’ by John Mayer. This song is from Mayer’s new album “The Search for Everything” and it encapsulates everything you would want from a John Mayer song. Woman inspired lyrics and velvety smooth guitar licks atop a solid rhythm courtesy of drummer Steve Jordan and bassist Pino Palladino. Kick back, clear your mind and let John Mayer melt all your problems away.
‘All My Friends’ – LCD Soundsystem. James Murphy’s grooviness is especially evident in this track. He sings about a night that he will never forget about, celebrating it with all his friends. The songs piano at the beginning carries throughout the entirety of the 8 minute track, throwing other instrumentals in progressively. One of my favorite songs for the summertime.
‘The World Is Yours’ – Nas. Nas reminds us that opportunities are endless in this world, despite where you live. I love listening to this song when experiencing something new or when I am feeling nostalgic.
My song for the week is ‘Saw You In A Dream’ by The Japanese House. This song is a slow jam and the lead singers voice goes so well with the music. The band has a unique way of approaching the sound they create, it always entertains and entrances.
‘Number of the Beast’ by Iron Maiden is my choice for the week. Everyone needs to have a go-to, amazing metal piece and this is just that. It always builds up a ton of suspense as well as giving me a ton of energy to do anything in my day. A perfect song for getting excited for the weekend.
