Who says you have to drop a ton of cash to have a good time?
Boston is a vibrant city filled with fun activities that cost little to nothing! So put away your wallet and take out your sunglasses because there are a bunch of cool, FREE (or very cheap) things to do this summer!
1. Have a Beach Day
Despite Boston being an urban setting, there are plenty of beach opportunities around the city that are fairly easy to get to. Beaches like Carson Beach, Spectacle Island, and Revere Beach are just a few to visit.
2. Take a Stroll and Have a Picnic Along the Esplanade
The Charles River Esplanade is a great place to hangout on a nice summer day. There are docks all along the water that serve as the perfect picnic or sun bathing spot. With a bike-friendly path running right alongside the docks, they are easily accessible and make for a great Instagram photo!
3. See a Concert at the Hatch Shell
Throughout the summer, the Hatch Memorial Shell holds a plethora of free events. Located along the Charles River, this venue is the perfect place to relax and have fun with friends. Some events to look out for in 2017 are Radio 92.9 EarthFest, Independence Day Celebration and Boston Pops Orchestra Concert.
4. Check Out Boston’s Museums
Some museums in Boston, including the Museum of Fine Arts and the Institute of Contemporary Art, provide free admission to college students or have special free admission days! Even if you’ve been before, there’s always new exhibits and cool events going on at museums that you should definitely check out this summer.
5. Shop on Newbury Street
Although it may not be free to actually shop, walking along Newbury Street and window shopping is just as fun! There are also a bunch of cute cafes and restaurants that are always bustling with people and good food.
6. Watch Street Performers at Faneuil Hall
During the summer, there are loads of cool performances that take place at the historic Faneuil Hall. From juggling knives to singing a cappella, there’s always some really awesome people showcasing amazing talents!
