Lake Street Dive is hitting the road for their latest tour in support of their fifth full length album ‘Side Pony’ released in 2016.
A mix of blues-rock, pop, jazz and soul, Lake Street Dive’s music boasts everything from a non-stop dance party to soul-twisting tunes. The band is made up of Rachael Price (vocals), Mike Olson (trumpet, guitar), Bridget Kearney (bass), and Mike Calabrese (drums).
The musicians met in Boston, Massachusetts in 2004 when they were students at the New England Conservatory of Music. They started out with intentions of laid back country music. Over time their style has evolved into a signature sound powered by Rachael Price’s phenomenal vocals. Following the success of their fourth studio album, Bad Self Portraits, the band jumped into their most recent album. Side Pony is a representation of the bands fun and carefree persona. Price croons about getting over someone, good times and great love.
Lake Street Dive’s on stage energy and presence can be described best as magnificently magnetic. I have seen them before at Red Rocks Amphitheater, opening for Grace Potter. Even as an opening act they drew a huge crowd, and created an even bigger dance party. I don’t expect anything less when seeing them again. Catch them at the Ogden Theater (Thursday March 9th) or at the Boulder Theater (Friday March 10th).
