The “Fearless Girl Statue” was placed in front of New York City’s charging bull on Tuesday morning to challenge the male dominated workforce on Wall Street. The statue symbolizes strength, power and gender equality. New York city had thousands of people attend the Women’s March last month and the statue was instated as a byproduct of the women’s political movement.
The artist of the statue, Kristen Visbel said, “Wall Street is a traditionally male environment and it says, “Hey, we’re here. To me, it says a woman can be delicate and petite, but strong.” The charging bull has long sense been considered an emblematic statue on Wall Street. The way the female is positioned, facing the bull makes a strong statement about women facing up to power.
