It’s that time of the week everyone, New Music Friday.
Read on for a list of some of our favorite tracks from that released this past week.
1. “What Do I Know?” by Ed Sheeran
In stark contrast to Ed’s recent radio hit, “Shape of You,” this feel-good call for “love, understanding, and positivity” is not focused on a love interest, but instead on the ways that music can change the world. The straightforward acoustic arrangement is reminiscent of Ed’s early work, and allows to listener to focus on Ed’s powerful lyrics.
2. “The Deep” by ZZ Ward featuring Joey Purp
ZZ Ward’s soulful track, “The Deep” is most comparable to her debut album ‘Til the Casket Drops, in which she debuted her unique blend of hip-hop and blues-inspired sounds. Her passionate vocals and jazzy instrumentation will have you jamming no matter where you are.
3. “Untitled” by Day Wave
Day Wave is a one-man band featuring singer-songwriter Jackson Phillips. The California indie/pop sound present in the track is heavily synth and guitar driven, and perfect to listen to on your trip back home for Spring Break!
4. “Lifeline” by Melvv featuring Dana Williams
Dana Williams’ delicate vocals are underscored by an upbeat track created by electronic artist and Milwaukee native, Melvv. Although the lyrics are sentimental, the song is upbeat and great for any occasion.
5. “Tribulation” by Matt Maeson
Alternative/indie artist Matt Maeson’s impassioned vocals make the powerful lyrics in this track even more compelling. This is the perfect song to belt all alone in your car.
