Which college team will prevail?
Red Bull, the seemingly everywhere energy drink company, is running a head-to-head video contest for college ski and snowboard teams, dubbed the “Red Bull Bracket Reel.”
The Snow Sports Industry
The ski and snowboard industry is a world full of people living their true passion. While normal people settle for a cubicle and a healthy salary with vacation packages, many people working in the ski industry sacrifice the security of dead presidents for the ability to ski throughout the year.
This peculiar industry is at a lack for money, because as paradoxical as it is, the expensive nature of the sport inhibits many people from participating.
Red Bull is smart, they are in the snow (action sports) industry while not creating any products exclusively sold or used in the snow world. They are one of the major promoters of skiing and snowboarding in general, and I salute them for throwing this contest.
Red Bull created what they call the “Bracket Reel”, in different disciplines. They had one for break dancing and surfing, and this is the second year of the snow discipline. University ski and snowboard teams from around the country are invited to create a video and battle against other teams, with the goal of winning a paid film trip from Red Bull.
There are 4 rounds, beginning with 16 teams, ending with 1. Voting for the first round ends tonight, and the next round begins on Monday.
So check the videos, vote for what you like, and more than anything, go ski and snowboard! As I mentioned in the beginning, it is a sport that people put over money. When something is a bigger influence than money, I think we should pay attention.
