Dream pop queen Lana Del Rey is back with a reflective anthem about youth and love
Lana Del Rey never fails to have us feeling some type of way. She has a new album coming out very soon, and surprised fans with a brand new single yesterday, “Love.”
Del Rey is known for her deeply personal and emotional songs, however on “Love” she is paying homage to her fans. She explained in a statement that her next album is going to be made for her fans, unlike her first four albums which, according to Del Rey, were made for her.
“Love” is Del Rey’s own commentary on what she believes is current state of her fans, many of which are part of the younger generation. With “Love” Del Rey is relating in a sense to what the youth of today are going through, almost as if she’s standing in solidarity with them.
Look at you kids with your vintage music,
Comin’ through satellites while cruisin’,
You’re part of the past, but now you’re the future,
Signals crossing can get confusing
Coming off the successful release of her fourth studio album in 2015, Honeymoon, Del Rey has been in the studio working on this upcoming album. Perhaps the message that “Love” conveys means that we are going to see a different side of Del Rey.
Del Rey captivated the music industry around the world in 2012 when she released her second studio album Born to Die. Ever since then her somber yet complex and inviting sound has built up a following many artists in this day and age work a lifetime to achieve. With the release of “Love,” anyone who’s a fan of Lana Del Rey should be excited for what her next album will have in store.
