Everyone can remember his or her awkward middle school years.
From the animal-shaped jelly bracelets, the terrible life decisions like getting side bangs, and the horrible yearbook photos, it was a rough time for the vast majority of young teenagers trying to figure out the wild ride that life is. Back in 2009, picture a young girl making all of the previous mistakes listed, walking to the bus stop with her headphones blasting the sound of “Dear Maria” by a band called All Time Low. It was from that moment on that her musical taste was pretty much established. That girl was me.
Like most people, this band brings forth a strong sense of nostalgia and reminds me of how important they are to not only myself, but many others as well. With one of All Time Low’s most popular and memorable hits being “Weightless”, it was a prime moment for the punk-rock music scene. After that single was released, the band followed with more hits to place on the charts throughout the years with other singles like “Something’s Gotta Give” and even more recently, their song “Missing You”.
After being a band for over ten years in the making, All Time Low recently released a new single titled “Dirty Laundry” and it does not fall short of anything but amazing.
With the beginning leading off with soft vocals and guitar melodies, it poses as a nice change in contrast to their usual hard rock vibe. Their original sounds from their previous records do make an appearance towards the end of the song, but it’s nice to hear how the band has been developing and changing musically over the years.
Not only has the band released a new single, but they’ve also released an announcement stating that they’ve switched record labels as well.
All Time Low is now listed as an artist under Fueled By Ramen, which also looks over many other punk/pop-bands such as, Panic! at the Disco, Fun., Paramore, Twenty One Pilots, Young The Giant, and many more.
As a fan who has loved this band since I was ten years old, I personally can’t wait to see what direction the band takes after this.
I’m extremely looking forward to the release of All Time Low’s new album titled “Last Young Renegade” set to release on June 2nd, and I’m also hoping to catch them on tour, as they’ve also released all the stops that they’re planning on playing across the country this summer. They’re definitely one of my favorite bands that I’ve ever seen perform live and I definitely don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to see them again. You too can find a show near you and get even more details about what the band is doing through their website here.
