As a sophomore at Stanford University, Taylor Grey is planning to make a scene in the music industry as she prepares for her debut album next month.
Though we have to wait some time, she chooses not to waste a single second and released her first single today “Never Woulda Letcha” with an accompanying visual piece! (You can watch the video above now).
Her debut studio album, SPACE CASE, is set to release this coming Spring 2017. The album had the honor of being executively produced by the award-winning, Josh Abraham, and to include other features and collaborations from renown writers and producers such as Nico Stadi, David Kuncio, Jordan Ware and Isaac Hasson.
Like any good pop track today, the single, “Never Woulda Letcha”, utilizes synth tones, metallic melodies, and an uplifting and soft-spirited energy to carry the song through. The record was inspired by Grey’s true emotions for her childhood crush, the story tale of wistful young love that provides us with a soothing taste to our musical palette and puts us on a high for life.
This 19-year old is a fond throwback to the old school days of Taylor Swift and a memory of sweet summer days. Eventually, I could imagine this pop-star following in the footsteps of the badass, silky vocal powers of Zara Larsson and really making her mark in the music scene.
“Never Woulda Letcha” is now available for purchase on iTunes, and on Spotify, YouTube, and Google Play!
Behind the scenes of this Grey’s fabrication was the stunning and skillful work of Sarah McColgan, a multi-award nominee for MTV’s VMA “Best Video with a Social Message.” The relatable lyrics and the nostalgic memory of puppy love is what brings the song to life and is perpetually circulating in your mind on repeat. “You’ve known each other forever, you’ve always been “just friends,” but you always wanted something more. The feeling of this song is something I believe most people can relate to. Personally, I always love listening to music that reflects my emotions, so hopefully this song can be that for someone. And a fun song to dance too, as well!” says the rising star herself.
Grey fell in love with music at a very young age and originally started this journey to stardom in musical theater, training in classical opera. She then exposed herself to the realms of songwriting at age 12 and then taught herself to play piano and guitar to inspire and drive the creations she would form. Her influences can be traced back to elements of Classic Rock, Jazz and 90’s Hip-Hop, but she continues to grow and strive each and everyday, as she climbs the music industry ladder.
This would not be the very first time this girl made a statement before. Back in 2016, Grey released “Mind of Mine I & II”, which was a two-part EP. From that, Jacob Whitesides, a notable pop artist was struck by her sound and musicality and reach out to help her grow. He let her open for his summer “Lovesick” Tour, building her fanbase even more. In addition, she eventually had the opportunity to join The Summer Set on their “Made For You” Tour in the fall of 2016.
So, with a toolkit of experiences and possibilities, this girl is going to make it big.
Stay tuned for when Grey drops her project soon!
