Photo Recap: Quinn XCII's "Story of Us Pt. 2" Tour
We often take the little things our parents did for us as kids for granted, but in retrospect. it’s the millions of small things they did that shaped us into the people we have become. In a short text conversation with my dad, I sent him the video and told him that it reminded me of his “I’m the best!” chant. His response was “You’re still the best!” What a lame, silly dad thing to say. But its just what I needed to hear that day. Thank you Papa! And thank you to all the parents who, in their own ways, have done little things to try show us the best in ourselves.

“Here, There, Everywhere:” The Perfect Playlist For an Adventure (Listen)
I kissed his cheek goodbye and got into Mama’s maroon Dodge caravan
Little me, already so scared of the world
Six years old and acutely aware that I wasn’t pretty
Or cool, or popular, or funny- internalizing things I didn’t have to be told
Little girls reach maturity faster than little boys
But I wonder if self awareness and self consciousness go hand in hand
Now it’s hard to imagine being six and already feeling like a sore thumb
Yet, I vaguely remember going to recess and wishing the red mulch was quicksand
Waiting under the slide for far too long thinking I’d won Hide & Seek
Then suddenly realizing I was alone on the playground
Ran back to class to be chastised by a teacher who thought I was a nuisance
Eyes welling up when I heard gap toothed Fletcher muffle a snickering sound
Went home that day a bit quieter than I had left it
Wondering why everything I did always turned out wrong
Six! Six and feeling smaller and smaller every day I came back from school
But luckily I had someone in my corner who believed the opposite all along
Someone who still believes “I’m the best” even when I am miles from it
But how lucky are we?
The girls with dads who see us as better than we ever believe we can be”
