If you’ve made it to 2017 without fostering a full-on obsession with coconut oil, I commend you.
People are using it for everything; to cook, as part of their skincare routines, to brush their teeth—you name it! I haven’t replaced my toothpaste just yet, but I have incorporated it into my haircare routine. Below are three things that happen when you start putting coconut oil in your hair.
1. Your pillows start to smell like coconuts.
I like to apply coconut oil to my hair at night, sleep with it in, and then rinse it out in the morning, which leaves my pillows smelling a bit tropical. I suppose I could sleep in a shower cap, but I actually welcome the scent!
2. Sometimes you overdo it…
…and your hair gets pretty greasy. More times than I care to admit, I’ve gotten a bit too excited when applying the oil, and even after a shower, my hair remained slick. Let this be a lesson to you—there is such a thing as too much coconut oil!
3. You see change—quick!
After just one application, my hair got visibly shinier and less dry. Over the course of the past few weeks, it’s gotten stronger and much less brittle. It’s safe to say that coconut oil has saved my hair from the Boston cold this winter, and I can only imagine the wonders it’ll do throughout the year.
