Because exfoliation is key to any winter skincare regimen, it’s incredibly important to find a gentle, yet effective product and method.
With the first winter months in full blast, I find what used to be healthy skin dehydrated over night. As my hands become so creased they appear like a mosaic and my lips peel into flaky chips, I am reminded of two important things: water, and Sephora. My face has the potential to turn into a blizzard with flurries of my epidermis colonizing on the driest parts of my features unless I take quick action. Part of this is moisturizer. The other half is exfoliation.
Exfoliation can often sound scary to those with sensitive skin, but it is a necessary step in one’s winter routine. I find that the exfoliating scrubs dry out my face even more than the crisp winter air. I have found a sweet middle with my facial radiance pads from First Aid Beauty.
They appear to be simple makeup wipes but they have mogul type bumps patterned on one side. The solution in the wipe (plus the rutted texture) wipes away all flakes that have corroded from my reddened cheeks. A simple swab of the wipe rids all dry skin without leaving any irritation in its path. I follow with a rich moisturizer to cure my parched expression and voila, Winter Air Skin Syndrome has been cured.
