All Good Records strides towards the finish line with another December for the books. Flashback to the imprint’s first record of 2016, which effectively set a tone that would help define the endeavors GRiZ and All Good Records’ would soon bring to light. Helmed by SunSquabi, the breakout live band released its most ambitious project to date in the 7-track EP ‘Odyssey’. Brandishing a rebranded aesthetic and the swagger to match, at the end it still comes back to the music. SunSquabi’s panache stems from three distinct musical backgrounds – coming together as one cohesive unit with a singular vision for the future.
Hit singles “SquabCat” and “Odyssey” found support with brand new listeners, ranging from the electronic scene to lovers of live music alike. Featuring elements of funk, soul, bluegrass, classical jazz and live electronica, SunSquabi treated listeners to a distinctive record that transcended preconceived genre limitations in a wholly organic manner.
Today marks the long-awaited unveiling of SunSquabi’s highly anticipated new record. “Pygmy Up” feat. Russ Liquid finds the Colorado-based trio starting back right where ‘Odyssey’ last left off. The energetic anthem also speaks volumes to the band’s progression as artists – exemplified by the inclusion of Russ Liquid’s multi-dimensional horn section. Featuring the trumpet, trombone, and saxophone, “Pygmy Up” creates a robust, powerful sound that’s fit for any stage no matter the size.
SunSquabi has been compared to Ratatat, STS9 and even a dash of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories record. What started as a 30+ date Spring tour effortlessly transitioned into a series of summer festival performances and a jam packed Fall tour, which promises to close out SunSquabi’s career defining year on a suitably grand scale. With stops at renowned locales in Brick & Mortar Music Hall, Terminal West, and Detroit’s legendary Masonic Temple, SunSquabi is prepped to burst into the new year with unbridled momentum and excitement once again.
