Despite all the stigma surrounding being single, here are some tips to enjoying the single life in 2017.
Don’t compare yourself to others. Even if it seems like everyone you know is either married, engaged, or in a serious relationship. Sure, the single life can feel awkward when you’re the third, fifth, or seventh wheel. Nevertheless, don’t let others’ romantic entanglements get to you. Be happy for your friends and family who’ve found someone special.
Don’t be fooled by movies and TV. We’re constantly bombarded by idealistic love stories that don’t accurately depict the hard work that goes into a relationship. Remember: just because someone is in a relationship, doesn’t mean their life is a fairytale.
Be grateful for your independence. The single life has infinite perks. Privacy. More bed space. Never having to fight over what you’re going to eat. Enjoy these things now while you still have the chance. This is one of your last opportunities to only worry about yourself.
Work it. Whatever it takes to make you feel fabulous, do it. Get some stylish clothes. Exercise to maintain that rockin’ bod. Watch make-up tutorials to master the perfect contour. You deserve to indulge yourself in activities that will boost your fabulosity.
Get shit done like a boss. Succeeding at school or work can be thoroughly rewarding. Whatever your responsibilities, challenge yourself to do your very best. At the end of the day, you’ll realize that you’re tough enough to get shit done on your own.
Put yourself out there. Go dancing. Get some friends together and go bowling, or to a concert. Sitting around in the comfort of your home defeats the purpose of enjoying the single life. So get out there and have fun being your fabulous single self!
