NEW ORLEANS, LA (December 6, 2016) – BUKU Music + Art Project today announced the first round of talent for the sixth installment of the annual festival, taking place on March 10 + 11, 2017 at the iconic Mardi Gras World in New Orleans. On multiple indoor & outdoor stages, set against a unique industrial backdrop along the Mississippi River, the event will showcase a multi-genre talent roster of some of the most relevant artists in the dance music, hip-hop and indie scenes. Complementing the extensive music lineup, the two-day festival continues its traditional signature arts component that includes an eclectic array of one-of-a kind art installations by local artists and electrifying street performers. After consistently selling out year after year, BUKU remains a celebration of the progressive, youthful subculture that is fueling the new New Orleans. Initial artists announced for the intimate VIP-only S.S. BUKU riverboat, which has become a predictor of the next big things, include electronic producers Ekali, Ganja White Night, Chet Porter, Andrew Luce, Pusher and STéLOUSE.
The event will also include local New Orleans artists: R&B singer and Kehlani collaborator Ambré; electronic/Hip-Hop producer AF THE NAYSAYER; EDM DJ Boogie T.; guitar and drum duo Caddywhompus; a B2B set from DJ MUSA and funk DJ Otto; electronic duo SFAM; and female techno DJ Lleauna as well as local showcases curated by Solange’s Saint Heron and local DJ collective DOHM Collective.
Several additional performers for the event will be announced after the New Year.
