Bad Moms is your classic light-hearted but surprisingly sweet, dumb at times, fun, crude and hilarious chick flick.
Directed and written by Jon Lucas (The Hangover) and Scott Moore (…also The Hangover), Bad Moms centers around the unlikely friendships of three mothers who have had enough of trying to be perfect 24/7 for their kids, their husbands, and their work.
And it is worth seeing based almost entirely on one very underrated actress: KATHRYN HAHN.
Who? You know who she is.
You probably saw her first in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days as Kate Hudson’s sad but lovable friend.
If you’re a Parks and Recreation fan (and if you’re not – um, is everything ok?) she was one of your favorite guest characters as Paul Rudd’s sharp and confident campaign manager, Jennifer Barkeley…
…who always spoke her mind.
She plays a single mom that digs the fellas (and the ladies) and is unashamedly herself. She has killer lines that feel improvised – and quite possibly were – like when she tells Mila Kunis’s character:
“It looks like you just got out of surgery.”
And tells Kristen Bell’s character:
“I just feel like everything that comes out of your mouth is a cry for help.”
Kathryn Hahn graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theater from Northwestern University and later attended the Yale drama school where unknown, indie actress Meryl Streep went. I’m convinced that the funniest and most talented actors out there went to Ivy Leagues, or somewhere quite similar. She has extensive stage experience which is how she was eventually discovered by an NBC casting director and has been doing onscreen work ever since. KATHRYN HAHN. Know her name.
Mila is the relatable one.
Kristen is the adorable one.
But Kathryn is the scene stealer.
Here’s to hoping she’ll get her own movie someday soon
