American singer-songwriter Jackie Greene rocked and rolled with his absolute best at the Fox Theater on Saturday Night.
Jackie drew a crowd ranging from young to old, and had everybody groovin’ and movin’. Jackie’s music is entirely honest, his sweet like honey voice drifts in and out of his tunes that are a rockin’ combination of folk, soul, americana, with roots to good old rock.
Multi-faceted musician Jackie Greene is from Salinas, California, an agricultural town in Northern California. From an early age he had a keenness for music, Jackie taught himself piano and guitar in his home garage. His debut album, “Rusty Nails” was recorded and produced in his garage in California. His talent has only doubled and tripled with age and experience. Not only is his solo career booming, Jackie is a sought after musician and creative mind. He plays and tours with several notable bands, including Phil Lesh and Friends, Gov’t Mule, and the Black Crowes.
The night was comprised of songs both old and new, including his newest album, Back To Birth. Each song brought about feelings of vulnerability and reality. These emotions were evident in his live performance, from the way Jackie played his guitar, to his soulful piano melodies and the way he vibes with his all star band. He came out on stage ready for a spirited and funky Colorado night. He was joined by his bandmates, Nathan Dale on lead guitar and vocals, Fitz Harris on drums and vocals and Jon Cornell on bass.
Jackie drifts all over the stage, from playing his guitar to jamming out on the piano. They played a mix of vivacious, spirited rock melodies along with sweet and soulful folk songs. Jackie sings every note with such a captivating display of emotion and involvement. It is truly a refreshing thing to see. It’s a magical moment when you look around a venue and see every person invested in every word that is coming from an artist. If that is something you crave, you should make it a point to check out Jackie Greene and his band.
