If you’re caught up with all your favorite shows and need something new to binge watch then I highly recommend James Franco’s new show on Hulu called 11.22.63.
I know myself, like most people, tend to strictly be Netflix members. But if you know someone that will let you use their account or have an account of your own, then you need to definitely give it a shot. You won’t regret it.
The show is based off of a Stephen King novel, it combines the thriller aspects of his novels with a sci-fi twist. The basic plot synopsis is about English teacher Jake Epping’s (James Franco) trip back in time to the date 11/22/63. Jake travels back in time after his long time friend Al Tempelton shows him a time portal that has been in his diner closet since he owned the restaurant. After he shows Jake the portal he gives him specific instructions to go back in time and to stop the J.F.K assassination that will happen three years later. Franco’s character Jake Epping must deal with obstacles such as leaving reality for three years, solving the J.F.K assassination conspiracy, and fighting against the past which “doesn’t want to be changed”. (The trailer at the bottom does a much better job with the plot description)
All around it’s an amazing show. It gives every viewer what they want; action, adventure, history, romance, and that classic creepy Stephen King feel. It scored ratings of 8.8 on IMDb, and on Rotten Tomatoes it has an 80% on the Tomatometer and a 95% audience score. In total the mini series is scheduled for 8 episodes with the first 6 already out and new episodes airing every Tuesday. I think most audiences enjoy Franco’s movies and I think they’ll really enjoy a different form of Franco in his new TV show.
