Nike will work with Michael J. Fox to sell pairs of its Nike Mags to raise money for his foundation and for research of Parkinson’s Disease.
On October 21, 2015, Marty McFly and Doc Brown arrived in the future—a future that has now come to pass. The future envisioned in the Back to the Future series differs in many ways from our reality today, but in celebration of the beloved movies, many companies have been releasing products featured in the films.
In Back to the Future II, the beverage of choice was Pepsi Perfect, a futuristic-looking bottle of cola that intrigued many viewers. Pepsi recently released a limited amount of Pepsi Perfect, as envisioned in the film, and the fans went crazy. Pepsi released the product on Amazon, where it sold out in under a minute.
The most notable product to be released on October 21 was Nike’s self-lacing sneakers, demoed by Michael J. Fox on Jimmy Kimmel live. The shoes will be available for consumers in 2016, and the demo looks incredible. The sneakers are near perfect replicas of the movie’s shoes and function smoothly. Nike will work with Michael J. Fox to sell pairs of these shoes for support of the Michael J. Fox foundation, an organization raising money to initiate research for Parkinson’s Disease.
By spring 2016, you could be walking around in these bad boys. And the proceeds will go to an excellent cause, so I’m really hoping to see these sell. If the shoes do well, who knows what other futuristic technologies could come next…
